The newly appointed Director-General of the National Youth Service
Corps (NYSC), Brig-Gen. Johnson Olawumi, on Monday assumed duty in Abuja with
a promise to be fair, open and ensure equity in the discharge of his
duties.
Brig-Gen. Olawumi further pledged to work diligently to take the
scheme to greater heights. He therefore appealed to the staff of the
organisation to cooperate with him in order to accomplish the objectives of
the scheme.
Earlier in his address, the outgoing DG of the NYSC, Brig-Gen. Nnamdi Okore-Affia, highlighted the achievements of his administration. He noted that his administration was able to successfully implement the approved expanded administrative structure of the scheme.
He added that the scheme was repositioned to adequately cope with
the dynamics of mobilisation of corps members for national development, and to
ensure their security in all locations throughout the country.
