The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said that
some fraudulent people have taken over land and property acquisitions in the
Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The Chairman of the commission, Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde made the
revelation in Abuja recently during a courtesy visit to the minister of the
FCT, Senator Bala Mohammed. Mr. Lamorde noted that about 270 land scams were
reported to the Commission in the last three years.
He therefore called for an enhanced working relationship between
the Commission and the FCT administration in order to curb land scams and other
fraudulent practices in the territory.
In his response, the Minister expressed dismay that the FCT is
used as a citadel of corruption and promised to cooperate with the commission
to stamp out fraud in the territory.
