The Minister of Health Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu
yesterday thanked the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) for cancelling its
planned strike, which was to begin on Monday.
“I express gratitude to the NMA for two reasons;
one, for having entered into dialogue with government and agreeing to abide by
the agreement.
“Secondly, and which is more important, is showing
that level of maturity. Some of the things that NMA is asking for are still
work-in-progress,” he said.
The minister stated that the government is working
towards ensuring a better level of understanding with the medical sector and
assured Nigerians that all will be done to ensure they receive quality health
care.
