The
Development Control Department of the Abuja Metropolitan Management
Council (AMMC) has promised to maintain the master plan of the Federal
Capital Territory (FCT).
AMMC
Coordinator, Mr. Reuben Okoya, made the pledge recently during a clean
-up exercise jointly carried out by AMMC, the Abuja Environmental
Protection Board (AEPB), and the Parks and Recreation Department of the
FCT administration.
“We
decided to embark on cleaning up of the city to ensure that the city is
clean and safe for the citizens,” Mr. Okoya said. “Abuja was built as a
capital city for the federation and we intend to retain it that way.”
He
warned all residents who have their structures marked for demolition to
be alert as all illegal buildings will be removed as planned.
The
outspoken politician had earlier stated that the 2015 general polls
would be characterised by violence unless INEC hold credible polls.
