The Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, has called on Nigerians to register for the new identity card when the process commences.
Speaking at an event held by the National Orientation Agency in Abuja, Comrade Moro said that the new National Identity Card was an essential part of Nigeria’s plans for a national database and an identity verification system needed by several government institutions and private sector organisations.
“Kindly allow me to use this medium to call on Nigerians to register and obtain the New Identify Card when the process commences,” he said.
Moro also called on the private sector to partner with the government in the scheme, explaining that there were opportunities for investment in the sector.
A strategic public communication plan will soon be launched to mobilise Nigerians to adopt the new ID cards in a bid to further the transformation agenda for the country.
