President Goodluck Jonathan has sacked his chief of staff, Mike Oghiadomhe, according to government sources yesterday.
However, the President’s spokesman Reuben Abati denied the dismissal and told reporters that Oghiadomhe resigned in order to pursue other political ambitions with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Reports had indicated that Oghiadomhe was fired because of his involvement in the NNPC-related missing $20 billion oil sales, allegations the presidency denies.
However, the President’s spokesman Reuben Abati denied the dismissal and told reporters that Oghiadomhe resigned in order to pursue other political ambitions with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Abati called such reports “callous and completely unreasonable” and added that Oghiadomhe simply adhered to the President’s call for those seeking to pursue other political interests to declare their intentions.
Oghiadomhe was the former Deputy Governor of Edo State and had been chief of staff to the president since early 2010 when Jonathan became the Acting President.
