The
First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, joined the rest of the Christian
community in Abuja recently to light the 2013 Christmas tree.
The event, which took place at the Unity Fountain, featured Christmas Carol renditions from the Professor Igwe Laz Ekwueme Choral Orchestra and the Nigerian Police Band, cutting of cake, and the lighting of the Christmas tree by the First Lady, supported by other eminent personalities.
Also in attendance were the Minister of State, FCT, Mrs. Olajumoke Akinjide, the Catholic Arch Bishop of Abuja Diocese, His Eminence, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, the FCT Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, and clergymen from different denominations in the Federal Capital Territory.
Mrs. Akinjide said the event was aimed at lightening up Unity, Peace and Progress in the Christian community and in Nigeria as a whole.
