The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Bala Mohammed, has inaugurated technical committee to manage the threat of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in the territory.
While setting up the committee in Abuja yesterday, the minister noted that the measure was a proactive one as no case of Ebola has been recorded in the FCT.
The terms of reference of the committee, he said, include: creating awareness on the nature and symptoms of the virus, working out modalities for responding to the threat of the Ebola virus, preparing an action plan for its containment, working out ways for effective surveillance of the population, visitors and travelers, and recommending tools and method for managing cases if they arise, among others.
The committee is to be headed by the FCT Secretary of Health and Human Services Secretariat, Dr. Demola Onakomaiya.
